The past two weeks I’ve had the privilege to be busy at work in my ministry. Two weekends ago, with the help of Aaron Breaux (best friend and Youth Minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Iberia) and Susanna, Sarah, and James (missionaries with FMC), I put on a retreat for the junior class at Sacred Heart in Ville Platte. Early Saturday morning I went to confession to prepare for the retreat and I was flooded with God’s grace! With this flood of grace I went into the retreat ready to change lives! I was quickly discouraged however upon realizing that the teens weren’t pumped up for me to be there, they weren’t impressed with me. But what a blessing this turned out to be! It’s ok if people aren’t impressed with me, in fact what’s so impressive? I had done nothing to earn these teens respect or admiration, but I knew someone who did, Jesus! Jesus already poured out all of His love for these teens, it would be up to Him to reach them, and I was there only as a tool to be used by Him, a worker in His vineyard; the messenger and certainly not the message. It was a lesson in humility for all of us who were helping out with the retreat; and for me it turned out to be a great source of peace to come to a fuller realization of my being a servant of the Lord. I also left the retreat knowing that God had reached the teens, and they His plans for them were blessed and that some of the teens at the retreat would come to serve Him with their lives! GOD IS GOOD!
Then this past weekend, on Saturday night, we had our third 2010 Faith Camp reunion/Valentines Day Dance. We had a small turnout, but the group that did come was SO AMAZING! I was so blessed to be with my Faith Camp people again, they are so willing to have fun and to be surrendered to God! We danced the night away, ate, hang out, and sealed it all up with some praise and worship! How awesome is it that the people who participate in Faith Camp are able to have so much fun dancing around like crazy people and then transition flawlessly into deep prayer! I love my Faith Campers!
Then on Sunday night I went to speak to the Life Teen group about Love at Our Lady of Lourdes in Erath. I was able to talk to the guys and the girls seperately, each for about fifteen minutes, and wow. It’s amazing that when you ask God to serve Him how he pours out His blessings on you more than anyone. After speaking a girl introduced herself and asked how she can become involved in ministry, I saw a passion and a desire in her to preach the Gospel and to spread God’s Love and His Word. I pray that God will bless her in ministry and keep her busy in His service. As I left the Church to come home my heart felt like it was going to EXPLODE! I really understand what the disciples were talking about in the scriptures when they said “were not our hearts BURNING within us!” My heart was on fire, I could physically feel God’s grace and Love! I thank the Lord of my life that He has been so gracious to His servant. That as I try to lay my life down that He continues to lift my spirit and soul! Once we can cast our skepticisms and doubts aside, and open our hearts to the Love of Jesus, He sets us on fire; He permeates our lives with a true Joy that surpasses all understanding.
